St. Andrew 2020-2021 Kindergarten Registration

Registration for Kindergarten is Monday, January 13th-17th.  Registration packages are both at the St. Andrew front office or are linked to the school website homepage - here.  Also, if you would like us to send Kindergarten Registration Packages home with your child(ren) who already attend St. Andrew, just contact the school at (613) 843-0050 or send a message via Seesaw to your child(ren)’s teacher, and we can facilitate you in this process.

Spread the word about registration in your neighbourhood.  The more St. Andrew newcomers we have, the better!

The St. Andrew Kindergarten Open House evening will be on Thursday, March 5th fro 6-7:30p.m.  Mark it in your calendars now!

St. Andrew New Year School-wide 21-Day Mindful Moments Challenge

On Monday, January 13th, all of the St. Andrew classes will be participating in a 21 Day Mindful Moments Challenge.  We are taking a school-wide approach to social-emotional learning. Specifically, we will be learning about labelling and understanding our emotions using the Zones of Regulation Model as well as self-regulation using methods such as gratitude practice, breathing strategies and  calming strategies. Furthermore, staff and students will together learn about how we can learn to control the emotional part of our brain, our amygdala, when we are upset in order to access our thinking part of our brain, our prefrontal cortex. Like everything else in our lives, with a deeper understanding of these concepts along with daily practice, we can all become more in charge of our emotions.

Every day, for 21 days, we will all tune into a live event, created by Mindfulness Rocks, for an inspiring journey into classroom calm for both staff and students. Videos are approximately 10 minutes long each day and include a short mindfulness lesson followed by a 2-minute Mindful Moment.

St. Andrew parents, your only job is to ask your children about their daily learning during the 21 day Mindful Moment Challenge.  This way, your child(ren) can practice articulating their social-emotional learning with you at home. Maybe, you can even practice a 2-minute Mindful Moment with your children at home!

St. Andrew February Book Fair

St. Andrew Book Fair is this February!  Then sale days are Feb. 10th , 12th and the morning of the 14th.

On February 6th, 7th and 11th, classes can come for a walk through with the teacher to see what is there before their visit.

Mrs. Francis, our library technician, is looking for support from parents in the community for this event.

The days she needs some extra hands are February 5th, 10th, 12th and 14th. If you are able to help out any of these days, please call the school to let us know!  Your involvement would be greatly appreciated and would help this initiative run smoothly. Thank you.
