Our Motto: Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You

Principal’s Message:

On behalf of the St. Andrew School staff we welcome back all students and families to St. Andrew School. We trust that each of you had a restful and safe summer. A special welcome to families new to our school. We are sure you will find our school friendly and one in which you can feel safe, secure and proud to attend.

Our spiritual theme is “ Seek justice, Love, Kindness & Mercy and Walk Humbly with God.”

This year at St. Andrew, we will continue to build on the tradition of Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You, which the school community has been establishing for years in collaboration with St. Andrew Parish

The school educational team consists of home, school, church and parish. We all must take an active role in the development of each child academically, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. The staff at St. Andrew School complements the Christian values that are nurtured in your home. Communication between home and school is essential. We will continually update you on your child's progress and development. Similarly, we encourage you to contact your child's teacher if you have any concerns or questions.

We look forward to working with you, your children and the staff of St. Andrew  School this year.

Welcome to a wonderful new school year!

J. Fortier, Principal

Meeting for Staff

Morning Drop-off and Afternoon Pick-up

Morning: Please ensure that if you are dropping off your child(ren) in the morning that you park on the right hand side of our bus lane and well behind the Daycare entrance.  There will be a pilon out as a marker for you. This way, our buses will have plenty of space to park and pull up to the curb to allow our students a safe exit from the bus. Secondly, it is essential that cars DO NOT PASS the bus in the bus lane.  Once the buses have landed on St. Andrew school property, there are to be no moving vehicles in that lane. This is both a St. Andrew and OSTA health and safety policy.

Afternoon:  The same expectation of the bus lane applies to the afternoon. The only additional piece of information to add to the afternoon pick-up is to ensure that all students who are walkers and connect with a parent at the end of the day are not to play on the structure that is inside the yellow line. This way, we are able to account for all students during dismissal in order to confidently give the office and supervision staff an “all clear” to indicate that buses can leave.

Absence Procedures

Please call the school or put a note in your child’s agenda book when your child will be absent from school.  Our number is 613-843-0050.

Message from OSTA:  Empty Seat Information

Students who had been approved to access service under the Seat Availability provision for 2018-19 will need to re-apply for service for the 2019-20 school year. The “Application for Access to Empty Seats on School Bus Vehicles” form is available on the OSTA website at: and should be sent to OSTA directly. The application deadline is September 20th, 2019 for the October review period. Students are prioritized based on age, distance and other factors. A waitlist may be created and new applications throughout the year will be added to the waitlist. We ask that parents and school staff NOT put students on the bus prior to assignment to a bus route, for the students’ own safety as they will not be insured until they are formally provided an “empty seat.”

School Security

For the safety of our children, we expect that all adults entering the school or arriving on school property during the regular school day will report to the office, please.  Parents are asked to sign in at the front office, where they will be given a visitor pass if they are volunteering. Please do not accompany your child to class if they are being dropped off. School staff have been instructed to direct all adults to the office.  Your understanding and co-operation is appreciated.

Volunteers in the School

We would love to have you volunteer in the school whether it is helping out with a class craft, activity and field trips.  The policy is the same as the previous year where volunteers must have their Volunteer Sector Check (VSC). It is a 3 step process where you must 1) complete the application form 2) Apply online and 3) Submit your police check.  Note that as of Sept. 1, 2019 a fee of $10 will apply for all volunteers and this increases to $20 as of January 1, 2020. The school will reimburse any volunteer upon receiving a receipt as proof of their payment to obtain a criminal record check to volunteer at your school.Check out more details on our OCSB website

Student Activity Fees

Student Fees are collected via Cash Online from each student to assist in enriching your child’s curricula, grade presentations, field trips, agenda and in stimulating the theory delivered in the classroom. The fee is $35.00 per student and is voluntary.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the office.
