Our Motto: Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You

Principal’s Message

It was so wonderful to have had the opportunity to  connect with many of our St. Andrew’s families at the Open House this past week.  I hope you are all just as excited as we all are to continue the school year with enthusiasm, energy and faith.  It was a great showing and my goal is to keep parent engagement going as there is an abundance of research that supports that with increased parental/home engagement, come increased student success.  So let’s do just that!

Welcome Back Bash

Our next community event is just around the corner - The Welcome Back Bash that is put on by our parent council.  It is this upcoming Wednesday, September 18th at 5:00p.m.

St. Andrew Deep Learning:  The Global Competencies (6Cs)

As discussed in the Introductory presentation at the Open House (slide deck linked below).  The OCSB Strategic Commitments this year are focusing on the 6 global competencies: Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Creativity, Communication, Character, Citizenship.

This term, St. Andrew is going to focus on collaboration.  We are going to try and further our understanding of what collaboration really means, what it looks, sounds and feels like and then apply it to our daily lives.

St. Andrew Bus/Foot Patrol

FYI:  The St. Andrew patrol program is going to be up and running next week.  We are so lucky to have CAA patrollers. If you see our patrollers outside, give them a smile!  We want to show them that we respect their contributions to the school community.

Parking Lot “Clean-up”

It is very important that parents do not block the 2 accessible parking spots as well as the access to the sidewalk where the curb cut outs are- there are yellow lines to indicate the no parking zones. We have St.Andrew community members who need to access the parking spaces as well as the school sidewalk during drop-off and pick up times. Thank you, in advance, for respecting the needs of all of our community members.

St. Andrew Giving Back: Woven Milk Bags Mats

In keeping with our board theme this year, Love Kindness and Mercy, members of the new St. Andrew Mat Making Team will be collecting clean, dry milk bags (the large coloured bags) to weave mats for people in need.  Please drop off your clean, dry milk bags at the front office throughout the school year. Cross Country at St. Andrew

Cross-country try-outs started today at 8:30a.m. in the yard for grades 4, 5 and 6 students. Practices will be every Wednesday and Friday mornings in September. The Cross Country Meet for the 30 chosen students is on October 9th, 2019.

Pizza and Milk Orders

The pizza and milk orders are due next week on Tuesday, September 17th.

The St. Andrew Eco Club

The Eco Club met this week to plan for some whole-school initiatives this 2019-2020 school year.  The club would like to remind you that St. Andrew is continuing the battery collection initiative as well as the Crayola Colourcyle (marker recycling).  https://www.crayola.com/colorcycle.aspx
